Chapter 2: Farewell, my life in Shanghai!
"Am I leaving this country? What will new life be in US?" I had big questions.
Finally it was time to say goodbye to my father, my mother, and all my good friends in my high school. I was a soldier heading to a new battlefield. I knew I was disappearing from them, from the city that I had lived for 18 years.
Just like that, I left my life in Shanghai
with a little uncertainty, with curiosity for my new life in U.S.
as well.
In the airport, I walked into the boarding
room with a big smile on my face. When that Boeing-747 took off
the runway, a voice came up: "Farewell, my life in
Shanghai!"
This is my 1989.
